Call for Nominations (2008-2009 Board of Directors)

The Nominating Committee of the Digital Media Association of Alberta (Digital Alberta) invites nominations for the 2008-2009 Board of Directors. All nominations must be submitted no later than April 15, 2008. Also note that the bylaws state that you must be a member of Digital Alberta at least 30 days prior to the AGM for your nomination to be accepted.

Washington State Market Access Program announced

The DMAA is organizing a Market Access Program focused on Seattle, Washington from July 16 to 19, 2007. The program is aimed at Alberta-based digital media companies in the areas of web technologies, interactive design, and online game development, that are looking to do business with companies in the Washington State region. Washington State is a global leader in digital media development, with one of the largest concentrations of companies in the world.

Workshop: Digital Media Opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic US

The DMAA (Digital Media Association of Alberta) is presenting another market workshop, "Digital Media Opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic US" on June 21 in Edmonton. "Join market leaders for a discussion of emerging opportunities in the Digital Media sector. The US east coast offers a unique environment where new media and government technology collide. This is where games are for learning, with the largest “serious games” cluster in the country.

Digital Alberta Mixer in the Mountains @ nextMEDIA

In partnership with the Digital Media Association of Alberta and Calgary Economic Development, The Banff Centre’s Banff New Media Institute is hosting a Digital Mixer at Banff Centre, Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Building to celebrate the opening night of nextMEDIA. Mixer: How Voodoo Computers Became Part of HP

On March 19, join Rahul Sood, Director and Chief Technology Officer of HP's Gaming PC business unit in Calgary. He'll speak about how a dropout from Mount Royal College started a computer company (Voodoo Computers) that started building custom-built PCs for business and became focused on building high-end high-performance PCs for gamers. The business grew to the point where Voodoo attracted the attention of Hewlett-Packard, which in 2006 bought the company, to become part of its Personal Systems Group. This mixer is presented by the Digital Media Association of Alberta.
