Shanghai, Hong Kong Market Access Program announced

We are planning a market access program focused on featuring and connecting Alberta's digital media industry to international markets in Shanghai and Hong Kong. In-market program activities would include several workshops featuring Alberta digital media producers and other international experts in the field, with sessions exploring multiplatform digital content in entertainment, education, and industry. In addition, Alberta companies will have the opportunity to meet with local companies. We are looking for 2-3 Alberta companies to participate in the program, which will include presentations to the industry in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Funding for travel assistance is available to selected companies. If you are interested in participating, please contact rene@dmaa.ca by Friday, September 7.

DMAA member discount at VIDFEST

The Vancouver International Digital Festival (VIDFEST) is an event for the top creative minds working in digital media. Attracting visionaries from games and digital entertainment, Web 2.0, interactive design, animation and mobile applications, it is an annual 'must-attend' in Vancouver, Canada. The event includes international business matchmaking, 'big picture' conference sessions on the latest trends and markets in digital media, a recruiting fair, high-level seminars for creators, designers, and producers, and loads of networking parties.

Trade Routes Contributions Program applications

The Canadian Heritage Trade Routes Contributions Program provides financial support to entrepreneurs in the digital media arena to develop and pursue opportunities in international markets. Deadline for applications is October 1, 2007. We are pleased to host Patricia Elliott from the program who will be in Edmonton September 10-12 and Calgary September 12-14 to meet one-on-one with companies interested in submitting an application. Meeting times are booking up quickly, so please contact rene@dmaa.ca if you are interested in scheduling a meeting.

Doing Business With China

Companies looking to do business with mainland China may consider a number of market entry strategies, or ways to access the market. For example, Canadian companies could consider using experienced firms in Hong Kong for this purpose. Presented by Export Link, this seminar will look at some of the considerations for preparing to do business with China, and will review the advantages Hong Kong has to offer in this respect. This event is being held in partnership with the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, and includes speakers with expertise in several areas, including the private and public sectors. A networking lunch, featuring a guest speaker, will be offered in Calgary.

Join Canada @ The Tokyo Game Show 2006

First held in 1996 as an industry forum and tradeshow, the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is commemorating the 10th anniversary this year. This year's event is being held September 22-24, 2006. Through these years, TGS has grown from a domestic trade show to an event attracting global attention for its coverage of the latest trends and developments in computer entertainment. Last year’s show featured an expanded range of exhibitions, including next generation games and the newest in software.
