The Canadian Heritage Trade Routes Contributions Program provides financial support to entrepreneurs in the digital media arena to develop and pursue opportunities in international markets. Deadline for applications is October 1, 2007. Oda pledges funding for new media at Banff TV fest
Warning that Canada's new media creators are falling behind their counterparts around the globe, Heritage Minister Bev Oda pledged a $29-million renewal of the Canada New Media Fund on Sunday.
"The rate and speed in which Canadians are moving into the new era seems to be lagging behind those in some other countries," Oda said during her opening address for the Banff World Television Festival.
The Business of Digital Media: Financing
Presented by the Digital Media Association of Alberta and the Accelerator Program at the Banff New Media Institute, this session will provide digital media producers with effective strategies for identifying funding opportunities and seeking financing for their projects. Key representatives from Canada Revenue Agency (SR&ED), Foreign Affairs & International Trade Canada, NRC-IRAP, and Telefilm Canada will walk participants through the ins and outs of the funding application process for their programs related to the digital media and technology sector.
Participants will learn about opportunities for funding and financing for Alberta digital media companies, and the value and benefit of the various programs available; how to find applicable financing programs and how to initiate the application process; tips for planning and preparation in meeting application deadlines; and, ensuring submissions are complete, align to program guidelines, and maximize effectiveness of applications.
Partnerships Fund (2007/08) Call for Proposals
The Partnerships Fund (Canadian Culture Online) is designed to assist partnership initiatives between not-for-profit, public and private organizations and institutions to connect all Canadians with the riches of Canada's heritage by making Canadian cultural collections held by provincial, municipal and local cultural organizations available via the Internet in both official languages.
