A fast-paced and innovative business unit, Customer Service & Communications (CSC) fosters an environment of ongoing learning in order to communicate effectively with Calgarians and employees. CSC supports 29 business units by providing a range of customer, communications and marketing services, such as Canada's first 3-1-1 operation, communication planning, issue and crisis communications, media relations, employee communications and engagement consultation, as well as creative services, including writing, graphic design, web site management, multi-media production and media buying. Responsibilities
This position is key to shaping The City's overall marketing communication and web communication strategies and thereby contributing to the success of The City's corporate, departmental and business unit objectives. This position will focus on creating buy-in for new digital technologies and communications and marketing channels across the Corporation and ensuring the successful growth and adoption of a new system for The City of Calgary. The Integrated Marketing Communications Consultant will work closely with the wider CSC team to ensure integration and consistency of strategic messaging across internal and external marketing and advertising, web content, media relations and internal communications. Primary duties include:
- Coach, mentor and consult with marketing and communication professionals and internal clients
- Liaise with CSC and other departmental teams to integrate corporate and department opportunities
- Provide thought leadership & guidance in online best practices
Stay informed about new digital technologies and online communication/marketing trends
Qualifications
The successful applicant must possess a degree (equivalent to 3-4 years full-time study) in Marketing, Communications, Web or a related field, and a minimum of four years of related experience. Experience in implementing new digital initiatives required.
Designations such as ABC (Accredited Business Communicator), CAAP (Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional) and CCPP (Certified Campaign Planning Program) would be considered assets. Preference will be given to those who have experience managing a team.
