As opportunity exists in NAIT’s Marketing and Communications department for a Senior Web Designer to
be part of NAIT’s web team. Reporting to the Manager, Web & Digital Media this position is responsible for
the visual identity, creation, planning and ongoing development of NAIT’s web presence. The individual in
this position will lead the design of new and existing websites, as well as provide support for clients across
NAIT. This role will work closely with various Marketing and Communications personnel to ensure NAIT’s web
presence is used as an effective and dynamic communication tool.
Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain the overall look and feel for the NAIT website and related online information
resources.
- Work closely with a variety of internal customers on web initiatives.
- Coordinate graphic and media production with developers/designers/multimedia specialists.
- Produce graphics as required.
- Deliver results through the creation of leading edge design and interactive components resulting in
engaging web solutions for internal customers.
- Research and recommend new and emerging web technologies for use on our website.
- Provide input into developing NAIT’s overall marketing and visual identity.
Qualifications:
- Diploma (2 year) or degree in visual arts or web graphic design.
- Working knowledge of design principles and an understanding of user experience design.
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience in an internet-focused role. Extensive working knowledge
of web technologies and front end development software.
- Demonstrated excellence in web design for various audiences and purposes.
- Ability to understand and interpret a wide variety of needs from different groups at NAIT and communicate
solutions clearly to team members and clients.
- In-depth knowledge of internet communication practices, tools, and technologies.
- Must be self-motivated, and able to multi-task
- Must have excellent problem solving skills and be a strong team player
- Must be able to take initiative to be productive and efficient
- Strong oral and written communication skills while interacting with individuals with a range of
understanding regarding online design and content
