The DMAA is organizing a Market Access Program focused on Seattle, Washington from July 16 to 19, 2007. The program is aimed at Alberta-based digital media companies in the areas of web technologies, interactive design, and online game development, that are looking to do business with companies in the Washington State region. Washington State is a global leader in digital media development, with one of the largest concentrations of companies in the world. Over 150 digital media companies, employing 10,000 people, make up an industry worth over $3 billion in 2003. Two of the three major video game console and game manufacturers are headquartered in the area - Microsoft and Nintendo. Four of the country's largest mobile carriers are also headquartered in the state, including Cingular/AT&T, Nextel/Sprint, T-Mobile, and Western Wireless. Some of the most recognizable names in web technologies call the region home including Amazon, Expedia, and Real Networks. Approved participants are eligible to receive a Standard Pass to the Casual Games Summit (value $550 US) as well as additional funding to offset eligible travel expenses (accommodations, flights, per diem) of up to $500 CDN per company.
